Dragon Gate Detail | Honolulu HI

The Chinatown Dragon Gate is on King Street and consists of two brillant red columns with twisted gold dragons. Behind the gates lie the green lawns of A'ala Park, a place devoid of polite society and best admired from afar.

The eastern border of Chinatown is Chinatown Gateway Plaza on Nuuanu and Hotel streets. It is across the street from Gateway Park, now known as the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial. This wee park once hosted art shows and performances and was popular with office workers at lunch hour. Now it smells of urine and is a hangout for druggies.
